Abstract
Toothbrushing is one of the effective method to prevent dental caries and periodontal disease. and choice of adequate toothbrush and storage method are impotant,too. The purpose of this study was to measure the degree of contamination of toothbrush by bacteria. and to recommend use of adequate toothbrush. 200 young adult were asked for their toothbrush by the questionnaire. Based on the result, it was measured the degree of contamination of toothbrush by bacteria of 40 young adult.
The results were as follows:
1. Change of bacterial count by duration of use and cleansing time was nonsignificant.(p>0.05).
2. In antimicrobial coating toothbrush group, the bacterial count was reduced after 1 weeks. compared to general toothbrush -group.(P<0.05)
3. In antimicrobial coating toothbrush group, the bacterial count was reduced after 2 weeks compared to general toothbrush group, but was not . significant different (P>0.05).
4. After this, further evaluation of this field are needed.
